Ability of the believer

According to the teachings of Christ; we have power and ability to be witnesses of Him. The power includes: heal the sick, preach the msg. of the Kingdom, spirits are subject to us, cast out demons, and curse that which is unfruitful (as in the fig tree, Mat 21:21). We can speak to mountains and have them removed, nothing is impossible to us (Mat 17:20). We have the ability to be perfect as our father in heaven is perfect, we can become one with the father in heaven (john 14:23). Additionally, believers can take up serpents, and drink deadly things and remain unharmed (However, we are not the be presumptuous and do foolish things Mat 4:7) .

Christ also taught that we must be born of the Spirit and move as the Spirit moves.  We can know all things the Father has revealed to Christ, we have the ability to love as he loved. Basically, we have the ability to do everything Christ did and greater, including being witnesses of him throughout the world with signs and wonders following. We have ability to prophesy, deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him. We have the ability to be guided into all truth, know of things to come before they happen, Teach and disciple as these are all works of Christ.  We have the ability to do all these things, what he did, and greater, because of the Holy Spirit and the number of believers.

Christ said “nothing would be impossible” to those who believe. However, generally as believers the more common practices; are to complain about a situation whether verbally or mentally, question why, have negative emotions concerning situations (i.e. depression, apathy, anger) versus immediately recognizing we already have the victory.  There seems to be a tendency of backsliding and not always outwardly. It could be slothfulness, turning to other resources beside God, turning to sensual wisdom, instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth.  There appears to be a continual battle of the mind the world system against the Kingdom of Heaven, doing things according to tradition, conventional teaching, social standards instead of doing things according to consecration (hearing from the Spirit of God).

Generally, in this society of modern-day believers, I think the popular teaching is hearing from God and doing things by the Spirit of God.  However, in general, is everyone correctly following the Spirit of God, this is the breach.

Christ did what he saw of the Father, he did nothing of Himself, and in essence he was led by the Holy Spirit.  Believers are supposed to be led by the Spirit God according to the scripture. I cannot say that this is widely-true. If this were true, we would see greater works among the believers; a greater massive explosion of miracles, healings and works of Christ.

Christ said if you believe, then, signs and wonders would follow and if we have the faith of a mustard seed, we could move mountains. However, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Therefore, a believer’s ability to hear from God will determine his or her level of faith; if faith comes by hearing the word of the God.  Additionally, hearing and being led are in direct correlation to one another. If you are led by the Spirit you are hearing from God, not necessarily verbally hearing, but essentially hearing; as hearing and being led are connected.

Therefore, hearing, having faith and being led by the Spirit of God is connected; these are the example and teachings of Christ. These are in addition to Loving God first and foremost and one another as He has loved us. These all precede the working of various miracles and healing in His name (if we believe on Him).

This does not appear to be the practice of most believers due to the lack of massive miracles and healings in the church.  I think as noted earlier believers struggle with the cares of this world. This chokes out the word of God and therefore the ability to operate in the capacity of which Christ spoke.

In my personal experience, as far as operating in the miracles of Christ there has been times I have operated in a greater capacity than others. Calling employment forth, speaking to symptoms in my body and other people’s body, commanding people to physically move from certain areas, and binding up the spirit of contention and confusion.  However, there are other times were I have not verbally spoke or operated in the authority of God by calling things forth myself.  In those times, I just believed God, asking, hoping and anticipating. God has also blessed in those times as well. However, I do recognize, God has given us both; the opportunity to ask and the authority to speak and command.

In those times when I was more apt to speak and command, my daily scenario may have been different. Maybe, I was given to prayer and study of the word more often, to be honest I don’t absolutely remember for sure. However, I can say during those times there was a certain sense of absolute sureness, a complete unity of thought and spirit; no deviation, oneness, solidarity and peace in the inner-man, that I do remember.
